The Institute for Market Economics (IME) is the first independent economic research institute in Bulgaria, and we loved working on this project in the hope that for many years ahead the IME will remain a thorn in the eyes of any subsequent Bulgarian government, which prefers to spend more (of our) money, instead of creating real reforms. We tried to make a proper media site – with many articles, photos and video materials – and hopefully it could become a destination for all Bulgarian citizens, who value their freedom, and would like to see more “market” and less “state” in the economy.

And dear English friends, I guess you already know that your government spends more than he earns (app. 152 billion pounds budget deficit for 2009), but did you know that this excess is 5 times greater than the revenues of the Bulgarian government (our GNP for the year 2009 is app. 30 billion pounds)?
